I’ve been thinking about the direction in which I want to take this blog lately. I’ve spent the past 16 months pouring my heart out on these pages, and it has been wonderful. The process has been enriching for me, and the response that I get from my readers who (WOW) actually come back over and over to read what I have to say each week, is nothing short of amazing.
As my blog has begun to get more and more recognition, I’ve started to receive PR emails from various companies. I’ve been weeding through the pitches and have a few things that I have found to be worth while of our time. Be on the lookout for a giveaway contest on the horizon!
Still, I’m conflicted. This isn’t why I started writing, but at the same time if I want to make something of this little blog I am not ignorant to the fact that a working partnership with these companies is the best way to bring more people to my world. There’s also no denying that the benefits to me, which I always plan to disclose, are actually pretty cool.
So, I’m trying to find a balance both in mind and on page. For those of you who have been reading and commenting for a long time, it is in part because of you that Mom et al has become a blip on the radar. How do you feel if I take a leap and steer this blog in a new direction? I still plan to write about my life and parenting experiences often. Let’s face it, I need it. Would you as a reader enjoy if I started offering contests or product reviews? I would love to hear your thoughts, whatever the responses may be.
I vote that you start blogging about the local sports teams so we can get free tickets.
Better yet, start reviewing golf courses and we can get free rounds of golf.

I’m sure you can find a good balance between the personal & promotional. As long as you “keep it real” there’s no reason you should decline perfectly good swag

You clearly have a vision for your writing. How exciting that you and your family can have some benefit from what appears to be a passion. I say put your hopes and dreams for this blog in written form (for your eyes) and refer to it when you question different offers that come your way. Enjoy the perks… and of course keep writing!!! I actually have a question, have you ever really posted in some detail about your journey with IF? I know you mentioned it in a recent post, but I would be interested in hearing more (being an IF parent myself). If you have posted in the past could you please send me the link?
